Adjustable Dog Harnesses

Our adjustable harness adjusts separately at the neck and chest, so it fits a dog with a broad chest and a slim neck just as well as one the other way round. Sizes XS to L (XXS to M in Honey Stripes and Quilted Moka).

Why an adjustable harness

Dogs don't come in standard sizes. Some have a broad chest and a slim neck; others are exactly the opposite. With two adjustment points, neck and chest, you can adjust it until it's snug without being tight.

It spreads the pressure across the chest rather than the neck, and the lead ring sits on the back. It isn't designed to stop pulling, though. If your dog pulls a lot, a harness won't fix that on its own; in how to stop your dog pulling on the lead we explain where to start.

Sizes

  • XXS: neck 22–31 cm · chest 28–38 cm
  • XS: neck 29–36 cm · chest 35–48 cm
  • S: neck 35–43 cm · chest 41–54 cm
  • M: neck 39–50 cm · chest 46–60 cm
  • L: neck 42–55 cm · chest 57–80 cm

Burgundy Corduroy, Green Corduroy, Teddy Brown, Beige Tweed, Green Tweed and Beige Gingham come in XS to L. Honey Stripes and Quilted Moka come in XXS to M.

Measure around the chest just behind the front legs and the neck where the collar would sit, and leave 2–3 cm of room. All the measurements are in the size guide.

If they're between two sizes

The sizes overlap a little: XS and S share 41 to 48 cm of chest. If your dog falls in that range, look at the neck too. Still unsure? Email info@beepaw.com with both measurements and the breed, and one of us will get back to you.

For very small dogs

The smallest size, XXS (28 cm chest and 22 cm neck), comes in Honey Stripes and Quilted Moka. With small breeds such as Chihuahuas or toy poodles there's no set size: one customer told us the XS didn't fit her maltipoo, so it's better to measure than to go by breed. And if you're comparing options, our blog has a guide to the best harness for small dogs.

The eight designs

  • Burgundy Corduroy and Green Corduroy: corduroy in two very autumnal colours.
  • Beige Tweed and Green Tweed: herringbone tweed, the kind every good old jacket is made of.
  • Beige Gingham: gingham check in beige.
  • Teddy Brown: brown teddy plush, for dogs who already look like a teddy bear.
  • Honey Stripes: the most cheerful of the lot.
  • Quilted Moka: quilted, in a moka tone and with a safety buckle. It has its own Quilted Moka collection.

To wash: delicate machine wash, inside a laundry bag, then air dry.

Adjustable or H harness?

If you're after a different shape, the H harness is a lightweight design that leaves the shoulders free. It comes in XS to L, in boho print and black gingham.

With a matching collar and lead

Every design has a matching collar, and almost all have a lead. Almost all also come as a set with harness, collar, lead and poo bag holder, for around 20% less than buying the pieces separately, and in the set you choose the size of each piece. We deliver to the UK and across Europe, with free delivery on qualifying orders – see our delivery page.

FAQs

What size adjustable harness does my dog need?

Measure the chest just behind the front legs and the neck. XXS is 28 to 38 cm of chest, XS 35 to 48, S 41 to 54, M 46 to 60 and L 57 to 80. Leave 2–3 cm of room.

What if my dog is between two sizes?

Look at the neck as well and choose the size where both chest and neck fall within the range. Still unsure? Email info@beepaw.com with the measurements and breed.

How is it different from the H harness?

This one adjusts separately at the neck and chest and comes in eight designs. The H harness is a very lightweight design, in XS to L, in Burgundy Boho, Black Boho and Black Gingham.

Is it suitable for dogs who pull on the lead?

It spreads the pressure across the chest rather than the neck, but it isn't designed to stop pulling: the ring is on the back.

What size of dog is it for?

Small and medium dogs: size L goes up to 80 cm around the chest and 55 cm at the neck.

How do I wash it?

Delicate machine wash, inside a laundry bag. Then air dry.

How should the harness fit?

Snug but not tight: it shouldn't twist or shift as they walk, and you should be able to fit two fingers between the harness and your dog's body. We explain it in detail in how to tell if a harness fits properly.

From what age can my dog wear a harness?

From puppyhood, in the right size. The adjustable harness can be let out at the neck and chest as they grow.
